About Malin Veland    Online Psychologist for Expats

Licensed Psychologist | Online Therapy for Expats

My name is Malin Veland, and I am a licensed psychologist in Spain. I specialize in online therapy for expats and people living abroad who are struggling with anxiety, depression, overthinking, emotional difficulties, or feeling disconnected from themselves.

Through my work with expats and international clients, I have developed a deep understanding of the emotional complexity that can come with living abroad. While every person’s experience is different, I often see how international life can interact with anxiety, relationships, identity, belonging, and existing emotional patterns. Sometimes living abroad is part of the struggle. Other times, the difficulties are not caused by living abroad at all — but navigating them far from familiar support systems can make them feel harder to manage.

My understanding of this is also personal. I moved abroad alone at 19 and have spent more than seven years living internationally. I know that life abroad can be both deeply rewarding and emotionally challenging — and that struggling does not necessarily mean you made the wrong decision or that you should go home.

In therapy, I aim to offer more than a space to talk. My approach is active, collaborative, and evidence-based. Together, we work to understand the patterns keeping you stuck and translate that understanding into meaningful change in your daily life. Depending on your needs, I draw on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), behavioural approaches, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and other evidence-based methods.

I offer therapy in English, Norwegian, Spanish, and Swedish.

My Therapeutic Approach

My therapeutic approach is based on Behavioral psychology and Behavior Analysis, which explore how our thoughts, feelings, and actions are shaped by our life experiences. I will help you identify patterns, understand the factors that sustain your challenges, and guide you with evidence-based techniques to create meaningful, lasting change.

Specifically, we will:

My Philosophy

I believe therapy is not just about solving problems,  it’s about truly getting to know yourself, understanding how your experiences have shaped you, and learning how to live with greater awareness, compassion, and balance.

Therapy offers a safe space to pause, reflect, and reconnect with what really matters to you.

Every person’s story is unique, and so is every path to living a life with fullfillment. I aim to meet each client with genuine curiosity and respect, creating a supportive environment where you can explore your emotions, build resilience, and move toward lasting change. My work is grounded in evidence-based psychology, but guided by empathy and authenticity because meaningful growth happens when we feel seen, heard, and understood.
